ABOUT ME

picture of genesis in school uniform

Hello! I am Genesis Marcus Aquino, also known as DimensionReset online. I like making games sometimes, but it usually goes wrong. I can (poorly) code in a bunch of different languages, including Lua, Python, Javascript, and C, and I've been doing it since 2021. Below, you can find all sorts of information about me, mainly regarding my progress on game development over the past years. However, if you're not interested in all that stuff, there IS more personal information here too.

Also, NO! This isn't a re-hashed "My Personal Slambook". I DID add more features such as music, opening and closing sections, and sound effects. It's just tiring to write the same things multiple times over, so that's why you'll see many of the same descriptions.

PROJECTS

EDUCATIONAL

For these projects, I simply made them for school. I didn't expect to try exceptionally hard on them, but for just some of them I accidentally did.

DRILL 1

Drill 1, "My Personal Slambook", was the first website I created for ICT. I was pretty tired while making it, so I only spent around 4 hours on it. It doens't use external CSS, as I assumed that we were advised to use internal CSS according to the guidelines. Regrettably, it also doesn't use classes, as I honestly forgot they existed. F.

    Summary:

  • low-effort
  • internal css
  • no classes

DRILL 2

Drill 2, "Movie Recommendation", was an used to test our knowledge on the form element. Now for me, the form itself was super easy to make. Honestly speaking, that part I finished in like two minutes or less. The hard part was learning about flexboxes, which is a CSS layout model used to create responsive websites. Of course, I didn't have to make the website responsive, but I like to give myself challenges.

    Summary:

  • form was easy, scaling was hard
  • external CSS
  • classes used

SEATWORK 1

Seatwork 1, "Top 3 Favorite Movies/Series", was an activity used to test our knowledge on all decorative elements we learned so far. I found this activity pretty easy again, so I decided to give myself the challenge of integrating Javascript into it. I completed the challenge by adding a "Click to begin" screen that would play the music when clicked.

In case you didn't know, websites (on Google Chrome at least) cannot autoplay music unless the user interacts with it. By making the click to begin screen, I knocked out two birds with one stone. I was able to integrate Javascript through the click, and I was able to make music play after clicking. In case you want to know more about why sites can't autoplay audio, see this blog by Google.

    Summary:

  • used drill 2 as design basis
  • external CSS with commenting
  • classes, ids, and Javascript used

PROJECT 1

Meowedventure (not a very creative name, I know) was a game I made back in Grade 7 ICT for my final quarter's group project. It's a rage-inducing platformer that follows the story of a time-rewinding cat trying to find their owner.

Now, I have to be honest, I genuinely hate Scratch as a game engine. It's super simple to use, but it's so tedious to make anything with it that it makes my eyes burn after looking at the bright white UI for seven hours.

It also didn't help that almost all of my groupmates except like two or three people didn't contribute at all until maybe three hours were left until the deadline. I was GRASPING AT STRAWS trying to give them credit. Anyways, despite the fact I despise Scratch, this project is honestly one of the best ones I've developed EVER in my opinion, and you should definitely check it out at least once.

    Summary:

  • weeks of work
  • groupmates suck
  • game still holds up, play it (please)

PROJECT 2

I don't particularly value this one so much so over all of my other Roblox games, but this one is probably the most stable one I can give a build of. Sift & Bake was a showcase game I made for my TLE class in Grade 8. It had you walking around a small cafe I fully built and coded. What makes me sad about this was that the presentation for this was a video, so people didn't even get to interact with the NPCs I made after THREE DAYS OF GRUELING WORK.

    Summary:

  • three days of work wasted
  • barely any code, mostly 3d design
  • game kinda holds up, maybe try it

PERSONAL

These projects I started under my own volition and passion. While most of these ended up failing, I'll keep on trying until I have more to put here!

PERSONAL PROJECT 1

Horror Smorgasbord is the most recent project I've made, with it being probably my favorite out of all of them so far. It's a Minecraft horror modpack filled with a bunch of different mods that make the game spookier and much more difficult. I initially created it because my friends wanted me to play a horror modpack with them one time, but I found it so poorly balanced, I thought I'd try to one up it and make a better version. I picked the name "Horror Smorgasbord" because the first version I made was just me putting a bunch of horror mods together and hoping that it would work.

    Summary:

  • modpack, not game
  • 100+ customized mods
  • LAN multiplayer supported + cracked
